The library of Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Studies, University of Szeged began its activity at the early stage of the institution’s history, in 1938. According to the quality, our library is a limited public college library. The scope of the library’s duties is to provide necessary information, which is needed for the education, learning and research for the teachers and the students of the institution.

For library registration all you need is a valid identity card or a student card. The services of the library are available for every user, completely free of charge. Six books can be borrowed at the same time, for four weeks. Renewal of the loaning period can be required either personally, on telephone or in e-mail before the expiration date. In the library there are two computers with internet access, which are also included in the services of the library for the students. The computers can be used for collecting information, which is needed for education and research.

The Department Library with its 115 m² and 3 large rooms offers the students peaceful atmosphere for learning and personal researches. Registration and the loan of the required books take place at the entrance hall, where the reference books are also found and can only be used locally. This collection contains both unique copies and regularly borrowed books and that is why even the almost unavailable copies are placed there. The College, in the higher education of Szeged, tries a unique way to ensure the whole lecture notes and course books for their students, thus some branches and classes can borrow them for the whole semester. These course books are also placed in the hall to ease the loaning process.

Visitors and students in the library can prepare for their exams, make home papers or read books in the reading room, which has a pleasant atmosphere and can seat 30 people. In the reading room we offer not only dictionaries and almanacs but 12 English and German and almost 40 Hungarian periodicals. Thesis works written by the school leavers of the college can also be found and used in that room. Beside the thesis specialist books, written in English and German, of the Department of Physiotherapy can be found in a glass case. These books only can be borrowed for a shorter period.

In the third room the open-access part of the library is placed with its 20,000 volumes and with the periodical archives. The orientation of our visitors is helped with different labels which show the various classifications. Upon these documents the specialized literature of nursing is given place in this room as well.
