General information

Do you want to study abroad, but don't know how to get started? First of all, we recommend that you read the few points below!

  • First, visit this page and find out about the opportunities offered by ERASMUS: http://www2.u-szeged.hu/erasmus/eindex.html
  • Check on the website when the application period is! Don't panic if you missed it, you'll start planning your next year's trip just in time!
  • Check the live contacts of our Department and the EUGLOH institutions on the website! The contract between the institutions is mainly necessary for study mobility, i.e. if you want to complete an entire semester abroad. Those we can recommend are our Finnish partner (https://www.xamk.fi/en/frontpage/), our Turkish partner (https://www.ahievran.edu.tr/en/), our Romanian partner (https:// www.uoradea.ro/The+University+of+Oradea) and, of course, EUGLOH's partner institutions (https://www.eugloh.eu/). Remember, however, that in the case of academic mobility, you have to fulfill the necessary credits and, unfortunately, due to the different curricula of the institutions, you may also need an individual curriculum, and you also have to think about the possibility of deferment!
  • You can also complete practices abroad but think about the fact that you may not be able to complete them in the same period as you would during your Hungarian training. Foreign and Hungarian practices/internships can be different, it is better to prepare for that too!
  • If you find it difficult to complete a semester abroad, or if you don't want to miss out on classes or important knowledge, you can still gain experience with post-graduation mobility. You have the opportunity for this trip after the final exam, after obtaining the diploma, but it is important that you can apply while still in an active legal relationship. Then you can try yourself as a physiotherapist in an institution of your choice - it can be a university, state or private care facility. Here, it is not certain that the otherwise universal knowledge of English will be enough, here it may be necessary to communicate with patients in the native language of the country. You can get a glimpse of another culture, a different kind of physiotherapy and health practice, but the organization and preparations here will mainly be your job. Contact the selected institution as soon as possible and discuss your idea with them! Of course, the ERASMUS coordinator dealing with student affairs can also help you with a tip or two (Levente Szilágyi).

F.A.Q.

I would like to travel abroad, but I haven't found a country/partner that I like. What can be done then?

If you did not find a suitable place for you, it is of course also possible to conclude a new contract. However, be sure to take into account that concluding a new contract requires a lot of negotiations, so it can take months. If you definitely want to try this path, then look around among the preferable institutions, examine their curriculum and if you find one that seems suitable, contact our ERASMUS coordinator responsible for concluding contracts: Éva Máthéné Köteles at mathene.koteles.eva.szilvia @szte.hu email address!

What papers do I need to fill out/submit?

You can find the list of required documents on the website of the SZTE Mobility Office http://www2.u-szeged.hu/erasmus/, under the menu item "for students". You just need to send the documents electronically to the ERASMUS coordinator dealing with student affairs: Levente Szilágyi, at the following email address: szilagyi.levente@szte.hu

What should I do if I cannot complete my compulsory subjects at the selected foreign university in the given semester?

Unfortunately, there is a high chance of this due to the differences in the curricula. In this case (if you are still determined to go abroad), you can request an individual study schedule. In the case of certain courses, it is acceptable if you return home earlier and only complete the exams, but unfortunately there are some practical courses that you have to practice throughout the semester. You will definitely have to agree on this with the instructor and the ERASMUS coordinator and this way consider your options.

What scholarships can I count on? Will this be enough for the duration of my stay abroad?

You can also find the scholarships broken down by region on the SZTE Mobility Office website http://www2.u-szeged.hu/erasmus/. Before applying, you should find out about the costs of travel, accommodation and meals so that you can calculate whether the amount will be sufficient. It is possible to apply for additional financial support on a social basis, which can also be found on the website of the SZTE Mobility Office: http://www2.u-szeged.hu/erasmus/

Do I arrange my travel or does the university do it?

You have to take care of your trip, so in the case of a longer European trip, it might even be worth getting informed about the ticket prices very early on and booking the tickets as soon as the trip becomes certain.

Is it enough for me to submit the language proficiency certificates, or do I have to take an exam before leaving?

The condition of the support is adequate language skills, so you must complete a language test to prove it. This will not be arranged by our Department, but by the International Mobility Office.

What about the insurance, is it automatic?

No, you have to take care of that yourself. You should look for the best possible offer.

Do you have any further questions? Then contact the ERASMUS coordinator dealing with student affairs at our department!
